Torn: The World Subud Organisation Symbol

Posted on August 26, 2020 by susannahzys

World Subud Logo split in two1. Blog written by Susannah Zys August 2020 transferred from Facebook.com/Subudconscience:

Intelligent people do not mess with statues. Splitting a symbol is no small act. An act performed without malice but in sagacity. Our lives are founded upon symbols. Symbols shape communities and tell what they are about. Truth of the religious symbol is important yet becomes complicated where injustice, immoral practices and suppression exist.

Anugraha became a symbol. Those members who have listened to the many tapes, read the articles or even fortunate enough to be present at Bapaks talks will understand.

There has been too much suffering, pain, loss including life to allow this organisation to forget, to carry on as it has done over these years. Splitting a symbol becomes part of its life, its history and cannot be ignored, ever forgotten or hidden. It simply is.

It could be said that the story of Anugraha, the aftermath and the Enterprise era is in opposition to the transformative representation of the symbol itself. Symbols are indeed open to individual interpretation yet religious symbols are supposed to be true to what they symbolise. They are meant to be effective in transferring that interpretation. How else is that reflected but by the behaviour of those representing or leading the organisation. If the symbol does not reflect this or there is visible division between the two it is considered to be idolatrous even demonic.

Subud’s behaviour over these 31 years has indeed been called demonic by a few. The violent use of silence. Shunning good people. Unlawful acts. Acts and actions that persecute and suppress. Hypocrisy. Arrogance. Walking away. Collective denial. All and more has produced suffering, loss, diminishment to someone.

One does not abandon responsibility of life when focussing on a union with God. The fact is the reverse is likely to occur. Your actions, thoughts and responses to humanity and the world gel in compassion affirmity and similitude. This was very much central to the many messages from Subud’s Founder yet lost in its performance following his death.

Ignoring his voice, created a world no longer represented by him or his symbol. Bapak was in many ways made a fraud by those who followed. Those who damaged his legacy. Those who disrespected the law and culture of the land in which they resided. Silence, shunning, breaking laws has no place in the movement Bapak created. Only those who remain are required to explain why such behaviour is relished clung too, tolerated today.

Enough I say Enough. You can offend no more.

2.  Blog written by Susannah Zys Anugust 2020 transferred from Facebook.com/Subudconscience:

I have danced as if a whirling dervish. Swirling, gliding across two worlds. The stellar mystical world of the symbol.

Swirling and whirling across the opposite realms of truth and untruth, reality and unreality. Grasping insight only to lose it. Swirling and whirling to regain the wonder to lose again in a flash. The tangible that becomes intangible. The defined that turns abstract.

For some there is the belief that if a symbol is not torn it is idolatrous. Entering the world it is possible to understand how the academic intelligent seekers reach their conclusions.

As the dance exhausts, the energy dies one is left with a final certainty. A reality. That being, the only ethical grounding reality lies with the individual alone.

All things logical, of this world, understandable and realisable within the Subud symbol begin and end with Bapak. His writings, his talks, his Pewartas. In these you will not find him advocating walking away, breaking law, harming people. This diversion results from forces non representative of him.

The world of the symbol presents a challenge impossible to achieve. An orgasm in its yearning to reach God. Though the symbol may not be representative in this world, it does ask a question. How are we to be responsible and live responsibly whilst practising that abandon experienced by those who practice the Subud latihan?

Trust all is well

Thanks.
